11 Month Birthday


Killian is moving out of babyhood and into boyhood. He has started walking for brief moments, usually 3-5 steps at a time. He also knows how to get up and down from the couch on his own, and loves to jump on the couch, fall into a pillow pit, or instigate a pillow fight with someone. He no longer uses a bath chair, rather, he enjoys playing in the tub with room to move around and play with sea squids or a bottle of shampoo. Mommy reads an etiquette book to him while he's bathing so that he'll have good values instilled in him, and if for no other reason, to make him a little more sleepy before bedtime. At this point he wakes up at around 8am, eats 4 meals a day, then goes to sleep around 8:30pm. He has a nightly routine of eating, putting all his toys back into the toy box, then crawling to the bath to prepare for his bathing; later he gets a lotion massage and goes to sleep without resistance. Strangers are always commenting on how well behaved he is, what a good eater his is, and those beautiful eyes.

Killian's First Time at a Graduation




Cruz, Killian's cousin, graduated from preschool today. Although he always likes to see his Grandma Yols, Papa Rico, and Tio Chente, he seemed like he would've preferred taking his nap instead.

Killian's new game is making us imitate him! Just recently, when his daddy is feeding him he'll tilt his head to the left or right. Now his dad initiates the game, too...

But, unfortunately this night Killian was more interested in posing for the camera than playing any games...

10 month birthday

Killian loves to have people read to him, well, he doesn't exactly sit still for it, but he will bring a book you a book, open your hand, and then put the book in your hand. He's getting better at playing catch with footballs, miniature footballs, and baseballs, too. He knows two colors, red and blue, at least he knows his red car apart from his blue car. Playing with his cars and his heliport seems to still be his favorite playtime activity, as well as playing with his alphabet blocks. We have to monitor him with the blocks and books though, because sometimes they mysteriously get their corners eaten away; even the crib acts as a teether sometimes....

Lately he has taken to jumping on the couches, opening the curtains to see the view, and then throwing himself on the pillows. He's started brushing his teeth every night during bathtime.

He also discovered the yumminess of Cheerios, and seems like he'd be happy to have them with all his meals. Everyday he does pretty amazing things.

First 4th of July

This was one of those holidays that Killian will probably enjoy in a few more years, but didn't quite appreciate now. He did seem to like the fireworks display we saw from our back balcony, but he didn't really like having to wait several seconds for each one, or having to view them out in the cold...

First trip to Bodega Bay!

For several generations, over many years the Luna family has enjoyed many holidays at Bodega Bay. This year there was a new little addition to the evergrowing family. Like most days there, it was pretty cold and overcast, but the food and family always make the trip worthwhile.

9 Month Birthday

Today Killian weighs 22.15 lbs. and is 28.5" long, with a head circumference of 47cm. He has two bottom teeth and three about to sprout up top. He takes 2 regular naps, each about 2 hours long, and when he goes to sleep around 9pm, he sleeps about 11 hours. He eats 4 meals a day (fruits, vegetables, cereal, and poultry, all of which are followed by a 5-7 oz. bottle). He really likes taking his bath every night before bedtime and goes down pretty easily, without any fussing or crying. He's learned to take toys out of the toybox and is even learning to put them back in before bedtime! He drives his mama crazy by trying to get into the kitchen cabinets, but has learned not to touch her magazines or candles on the side tables. He knows how to play catch, and practices with his Mickey Mouse football. His favorite toys are the alphabet nesting blocks, car/heli-port, and a variety of books. He has been crawling for some time, and is experimenting standing up on his own. He is a very social, friendly, and happy boy.
